Everyone who wants to post on the Discussion Boards must register, whether you are a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) or not. This is a change as of June 2023, due to the recent separation of the SCBWI and Discussion Boards databases. SCBWI members are guaranteed that their registration will be accepted. Even if you are not a SCBWI member, if you have a serious interest in writing or illustrating for children and are at least 18 years old, you are welcome and encouraged to join these discussion boards. If you would like information about SCBWI membership, that is here: https://www.scbwi.org/membership

To register:
1.   Click "Sign Up" at the top left of the screen.
2.   Read the registration agreement. At the bottom, choose "I accept the terms and I am at least 18 years
old." If you are not yet 18, you are not eligible to join.
3.   Fill out the form according to the instructions. SCBWI members, please be sure to answer the last
three questions that ask for your SCBWI info.
This is how you will gain access to the SCBWI-only
boards. At the bottom of the page, accept the terms once again.

Typically, it will take administrators a couple of hours to a couple of days to approve registrations. Once you have been approved, you should receive an acceptance email from this message board. Check your spam folder if you don't see your activation email relatively soon. If it hasn't come within seven days, email blueboardadmin@scbwi.org with the information you used to register.

Once you have received the acceptance letter, follow the instructions to log onto the board and begin posting. Remember that the SCBWI Discussion Boards exist primarily for the purpose of discussing the business of writing and illustrating for children, not as a venue for drive-by promotion. NOTE: Logging in at least once every 90 days (even if you don't post) will keep your account active.

Finally, do not register for anyone but yourself, and do not register for a second account if you are already a member. This is to prevent trolling and other behaviors that violate the spirit of community on these boards. We have safeguards against double registrations, and when detected they will be deleted without notice.

What is the Blueboard? Is it this board? I don't see a signup button at the top of the screen. Is there a link to it?

Yes, the Blueboard is this board. Blueboard is a previous name. We'll update the wording.

If you haven't logged in already, at the very top left of the screen it should say "Welcome to SCBWI Messages Boards" then a Log in button followed by a Sign up button.

If you have logged in, you should see your name in the top left.

You can try this link is you aren't seeing the sign up button: https://www.scbwidiscussionboards.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=14e399f55c49dbd02dd63d8e1815c3ea&action=signup

Thanks, Dave, for catching that. Admins will update the wording.

The wording is now updated. Thanks for letting us know. Here is a thread that explains the history of this board's name. https://www.scbwidiscussionboards.org/index.php?topic=94003.0

Having trouble registering? Does something on the board not work correctly? If so, use the Contact button at the top of the page and we will get back to you. Note: questions about writing, publishing, or "how to post" are NOT answered through the Contact button. If you are registered, scroll the Home page to find categories where you can post. Only registered members can post.
