The first #PBParty New Draft Challenge & Critique Train of 2024 starts NOW & lasts all of Jan 18 - 20 EDT

*This is the perfect chance to receive feedback on the picture book you hope to enter into the annual PBParty contest on February 22. We already have over 60 amazing agents, editors (several from big 5 publishers), and art directors participating...and more yeses are coming in daily. Wahooooo! I'll have full details up within a week--published authors and author/illustrators are welcome to enter, but everyone must be unagented for the contest (everyone is welcome to join the monthly challenge)!

Here's how to participate in the monthly PBParty New Draft Challenge & Critique Train!

🚂Write a new PB draft during the challenge
🚂Shout 'DONE' on this post
🚂Add your name to the Critique Train Google doc: https://tinyurl.com/CritiqueTrainDoc to receive a critique from the passenger above you and give one to the one below you. You may share any PB you'd like--it doesn't have to be the new one.
🚂CELEBRATE! 🎉
🚂FAQ: https://tinyurl.com/CritiqueTrain

Good luck! I'm sending tons of good writing vibes your way. ✨✨

Hi Mindy!

I'm very excited to be participating for the first time.  I technically have a Twitter account, but it's essentially a ghost account and I haven't looked at it or used it in years - I'm not sure how to reach out to the people above and below me on the critique train because Twitter won't let me DM them.  Do you have any advice for how to reach out to them?

Thanks!

Virginia (Gbug)

Can someone explain what PBparty is? I've read through everything and it's not clear. Is this peer critiquing, or agents/editors seeing your work?

Mindy Alyse Weiss

Congrats, Jacinta! I messaged both of them, asking them to e-mail you. Please let me know when you hear from them.

I hope you enjoy your ride on the PBParty Critique Train!

The PBParty New Draft Challenge & Critique Train is a challenge inspiring participants to write a new picture book (or two) during the three day monthly challenge. Then, they hop on the Critique Train doc to receive a critique from the passenger above and give one to the passenger below them. These are all writers and author/illustrators--ranging from newbies to agented and multi-published.

We're also shouting out about our annual PBParty contest, where we receive about 1000 entries from writers and author/illustrators and whittle them down to our 50 favorites and the Illustration Showcase to share with agents, editors, and art directors. Right now, we have 67 participating! You can see the list here: https://mindyalyseweiss.com/2024-pbparty-agents-editors-art-directors/

Thank you, Mindy! The rules page you linked helped!

You're welcome, Virginia. :)

If you're on Facebook, there's a supportive PBParty Participant Facebook group where I share links of important new info, reminders on submission day, etc.
