Hello!

I'm looking at attending an SCBWI workshop in the fall. What are people wearing these days, to such events? I pretty much live in scrubs (at work), and yoga pants at home. Obviously that won't work! I can buy something new if necessary. Would (nice) jeans and a sweater be pushing it? I have no frame of reference for what these events are like.

Thanks!!

I run lots of events as an RA, and people mostly go business casual with an emphasis on the casual. Jeans and a sweater is absolutely fine. Yoga pants with a tunic would work too. Enjoy the conference!

Haha, to me business casual means wear a t-shirt with the scrubs instead of a scrub top! But that's the business I'm in!!!

Scrubs are so comfy, Ginbug. I say wear what's comfortable and that makes you feel beautiful. Jeans and a sweater are perfectly acceptable. I only like softness against my skin so wear skirts and blouses most of the time. Enjoy!!!

If you want to stand out, dress like you would dress for the Met Gala... But otherwise, jeans and a sweater!

Thanks to all...I appreciate your responses!

The last time I went to a workshop* I had to travel to get there, so I wore a packable, work casual pant suit. I felt as if I was dressed just right. One person wore a skirt and blazer, I remember.

*At this workshop we were meeting with editors and agents, as well as other writers. If it's just other writers, you can go more casual.

Thanks Barbara!  This one is just writers, but I'm eyeing an event in the spring that includes agents/editors. At least I have more time to figure that one out.
