I'm sorry to say this, but I noticed that Ms. Reid, the generous agent who kept two blogs (the first was as Miss Snark) to help writers navigate through the querying and publishing process, passed away. I read both blogs and actively participated in the second blog. She was inspiring, encouraging, and funny. I'll miss her. Here's a link to the memorial notice:

Janet Reid, Literary Agent: In memoriam

Barb, thank you for the link. Such a great loss. We communicated briefly after I'd sent her a query but our interests were misaligned...loved her wit and wisdom. Requiescat in pace, Janet.

That showed up in my RSS feed a couple of days ago. It felt like the end of an era.

Sympathies to all.  She will be missed.

Oh, that is sad to hear! She taught me a LOT about writing--one of those people quietly and tirelessly working to improve the industry.

So sad. She will definitely be missed.
