It pays to check Author Central once in a while...I discovered that the paperback version of BOUND dropped ridiculously low (lower than what I'm allowed to price it at considering Amazon's cut and cost of printing). So if you've been wanting to have a paperback, get thee a copy. I have no idea how long this low price will remain. I never know what the zon is doing. :thankyou

This happened with a friend's MG book, so of course, I ordered multiple copies to give away. It was a steal.  :flowers2

This is very interesting to me.  I had always thought that the author and/or publisher was the one who determined the sale price for a book on Amazon.  But, you're saying that Amazon is able to increase/decrease the book price as it chooses?  I didn't know that.

At any rate, wishing you many sales.

Thank you ladies. Hopeful, you are right that the publisher sets the price. But Amazon can also decide to lower the price to give the book a boost in sales. It's a good thing. I just wish they'd notify the publisher so that we could alert our readers.

The publisher can set the list price. Amazon, or any other bookseller, can discount it as much as they want--they can even choose to lose money.

And in fact back in 2007/2008,. when Amazon was trying to create demand for their Kindles and for the idea of ebooks, they routinely priced in-demand ebooks (the bestsellers of the time) at LESS than the price Amazon had to pay the publisher if they sold one. Complications ensued, but that action by itself was legal.

They can do the same thing with other products. Of course, they don't stop there. They also use their market power to pressure publishers and manufacturers to reduce the price they charge Amazon. But that's a different story...
